Every tribe, color and creed on Bali was out strutting their stuff. Everyone, from the Kuta Police squad to renegade motorcycle groupies, rain forest environmentalist to girls in traditional Balinese costumes, pseudo chinese fairy queens to Miss Indonesia runner-up Beauty Queen ... everyone who was anyone was out in that parade. There were floats with beauty queens propped on top, people in fantastically bizarre costumes. It was one crazy party procession.

Doing the loop from Kuta Beach round to Jln. Legian, the crowds gathered on the sidewalk faster than Uluwatu on a 3ft day. Surfer Girl's float was more like a super star entourage than anything. Plenty of Surfer Girl fans cheered on, with our girl DJ Krisna at the helm, flanked by 4 lovely live mannequins on the side. The Surfer Girl procession trailed on into hip-hop dancers breakin' moves to DJ Krisna beats, little Surfer Girl fans skipping to the beat, the purplicious Fun Bus, and even the 2 Sumo Wrestling outfits were bobbing along at the end.

Bali had some tough times this past year, but it was all community spirit and good vibes at the Kuta Karnival. Everyone pulled together and made the Kuta Karnival Parade '06 a huge success. The parade was definatly Bali at it's best.
