Becky's Back

Rebecca 'Becky' Sheedy, one of our resident team rider, is just fresh off the plane from Western Australia. A good friend of Summer, she divides her time between Margaret River, Australia and Bali, Indonesia. Whenever she's in town, you can spot her in the surf, chilling out with Summer, and generally just having a good time. This time, Summer caught up with Becky to get the latest on the Australian surfing scene. Read on to see what's stompin' in the surf out at Margies.

Hey Bec, it's good to have you back.
How was your flight?
I was relieved to make my flight after having an adventurous time traveling back to Perth from Magaret River. The inflight movie was awesome.
Did you get any 'wave of your life' down at Margies?
I had some incredible waves, and definately saw the 'wave of my life' at one of the bombie breaks.
(what?!...what a pity you didn't ride it)
Not yet...
Was there an especially big day?
There was an all day offshore 8-10ft day where every spot was absolutely firing!
What about the weirdest day?
The weirdest surfing day was when there was alot of cloud cover, everyone thought it was onshore so there was no one surfing. It turned out to be ALL TIME SURF.
How's the girls surfing scene there? Getting bigger?
Yea, there's a strong crew of keen surfer girls in the South West of Australia. They are adventure loving...there are always more girls gettin into it.
So where're you hitting first, now that you're back on Bali?
My first wave was at Padang Padang on Saturday. I did more watching than surfing. The pro Balinese locals and a few foreigners were gettin' some serious tube time.
It's always an almost empty line-up in Western Australia, except for big fishies.
But Bali, and with the peak season now.... how do you feel about the Crowd Factor?

I feel with dedication and strategy, you can get around the crowd issue...except maybe when it's all time Padang Padang! But watching alone is incredible!
Well Becky, looks like we better pack up and head for the surf before the crowd gets there.
See you in the surf!

Yo!
